DRUMMING WITH LYDIA
A drum and rhythm circle for health and wellness. This intergenerational and interactive session uses drums and percussion instruments to build community, reduce stress,enhance creativity, share self expression with worldly rhythms, boost your immune system, and have a fun experience in a supportive environment.
It’s music making, exercise, and spiritual connection all at the same time! Drums and other instruments will be provided for all participants or bring your own.
Lydia Smith, a life-long CT resident, has been drumming all her life. She is a graduate of the Creative Arts Therapy Program from The New School in New York City.
Her internship was at the Institute of Music and Neurologic Function at Schnurmacher Hospital of Beth Abraham Health Services in White Plains, NY. She has a B.S Degree in Liberal Studies( Music, Education, Psychology) from Southern CT. State University and an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Post University.
She has been a head preschool teacher for many years and taught at Neighborhood Music School in New Haven for more than ten years.
She is a certified Remo’s HealthRHYTHMS Drum Circle Facilitator serving all populations, and conducts drum circles all over the state.
In addition, Lydia is a professional drummer and you can catch her playing out in a variety of music groups, including Parkers Tangent Original Rock Band, Pantastic Steel Pan Drum Ensemble, Beth Patella Band, various jazz groups, church services and conferences, and accompanying university and high school musical productions.
